

Governor Newsom Issues Proclamation Honoring Workers’ Memorial Day 2025
SACRAMENTO – Today, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a proclamation recognizing April 28, 2025, as Workers’ Memorial Day in California. The proclamation urges all Californians to pause in remembrance of those who have lost their lives or suffered serious injury or illness in the course of their work, and to recommit to the vital mission to ensure safe and healthful workplaces for all.
Workers’ Memorial Day marks the anniversary of the federal Occupational Safety and Health Act and serves as a powerful reminder that workplace injuries and fatalities are preventable.

California continues to lead the nation in worker safety through the work of Cal/OSHA, which enforces health and safety laws and partners with employers and workers to prevent injuries, illnesses, and fatalities.
