(MW-Supplement for Fast Food Restaurant Employees, effective 4-1-2024)
TAKE NOTICE that the Governor of California signed legislation passed by the California Legislature, raising the minimum wage payable by certain Fast Food Restaurant employers (AB 1228, Chap. 262, Stats. 2023). Pursuant to its authority under Labor Code section 1182.13 and to conform the minimum wage order with this enactment establishing a special minimum wage, the Department of Industrial Relations publishes this supplement to the general minimum wage order for fast food employees.
This Supplement must be made available to employees in accordance with the IWC's wage orders. This Supplement only applies to employees employed by Fast Food Restaurant employers under Part 4.5.5, of Division 2 of the Labor Code (commencing with Labor Code section 1474).
Fast Food Restaurant employers under Labor Code section 1474, regardless of the number of employees, shall pay to each employee wages not less than twenty dollars ($20.00) per hour for all hours worked, effective April 1, 2024.
This Supplement only reflects a special minimum wage amount applicable to Fast Food Restaurant Employees separate from the amount stated in Section 2 of the general minimum wage order and Section 4(A) of IWC Orders 5 and 7. This supplement makes no other changes to any other sections of the minimum wage amounts in other industry and occupation orders.
This Supplement to the Wage Orders shall be in effect as of April 1, 2024.
